Teaching
I completed a Master of Teaching degree through OISE at the University of Toronto in 2021 and currently work as a science and math teacher at an independent school in Toronto. While in this role, I have had the opportunity to become immersed in the school community through experiential outdoor education trips, coordinating the House program and Student Council, running service-learning initiatives for intermediate students, and coaching basketball and softball.

My teaching philosophy is to spark a passion for learning and encourage critical thinking about STEM in the real world through student-centered approaches and experiential learning opportunities. In the classroom, I practice anti-racist education and utilize differentiated instruction to make all my students feel respected, welcomed, and excited to learn. For a portfolio of the lessons I have developed, please visit this folder.
Though my specialty is in Intermediate/Senior science education, I've had the opportunity to teach science to children and adults of all ages. I have also worked as a Math and Science Tutor at The Math Guru designed land delivered virtual lessons for intermediate students through SustainEd, and worked as an Arts and Science Educator at Action Potential Lab. I've also developed and taught biotechnology lessons to high school students, worked as a Teaching Assistant at both Western University and the University of Toronto, guest lectured undergraduate courses at Western University, and completed a Certificate in University Teaching and Learning. Take a look at my CV or check out some past highlights below.
Microteaching
One component of the Certificate in University Teaching and Learning was to complete two microteaching presentations. Microteaching is the term used for a technique that prepares teachers for a real classroom by completing a 10-minute lesson. My first microteaching session was about a genetic engineering technique known as CRISPR, while my second one explored the evolution of biological cells. Click the pictures below to watch my microteaching presentations from 2018 (before I chose to pursue a teaching degree). My teaching approach has changed drastically since these days, but these offer a nice glimpse into my early days of teaching.
